    DIY American Girl Doll Bed

I’m excited to share this DIY American Girl doll bed I made with my daughter. This bed is actually for a Wellie Wisher, Ashlyn.  Wellie Wishers are the new 16″ dolls made by American Girls aimed at a slightly younger audience.  You could definitely make the same thing for an 18″ American Girl. A Long History with American Girls My oldest daughters, ages 21 and 18, loved American Girls when they were young.  Honestly, I loved them too!  Going to the American Girl Store in Los Angeles and buying clothes and accessories was as much fun for me as it was for my daughters.  After my girls outgrew their dolls,…

    Kids’ Christmas Crafts

This time of year is always so busy!  It seems I’m always rushing around and never just savoring the season.  To try to slow down and enjoy the time more, I created an advent calendar that focuses on experiences instead of things.  Read the post here.  As part of this calendar, I had to come up with quite a few kids’ Christmas crafts. Crafting just for the sake of crafting is great, but when you can use your kids’ art as part of the present it’s even better.  I decided to enlist my daughter’s skills to make extra special Christmas cards and wrapping paper for her teachers.  As a teacher,…

DIY Sight Words Go Fish Game to Make with Your Kids

Keep Reading Skills Going During Summer My youngest is going into first grade in the fall.  I wanted to keep working on sight words with her this summer, but I wanted a more engaging way to do it rather than flashcards.  Luckily, I remembered I had created a game back when I taught primary grades.  This DIY sight game can be used either as Go Fish or Memory. Check out this Amazing Website I used free graphics from MyCuteGraphics.com to create this cute game.  This site has a ton of free cute clipart for teachers to use to create printables. The site has colored graphics and black and white.  I created…

Make Superhero Gift Wrap with Your Cricut

This past Saturday, we were putting the final touches on our Father’s Day present.  We got Daddy a video game, but my daughter loves to make a gift too.  I remembered this cute idea from Pinterest. I liked the idea, but I wanted to tweak it a little. I bought the images from Etsy.  While we were assembling our superhero images, I got the idea to create custom gift wrap with Cricut drawing the images on the paper and my daughter coloring them. Laying out the Superhero Gift Wrap As I have mentioned before, when I am looking for images from the Internet to load into Design Space, I always…

DIY American Girl No Sew Quilt

My daughter doesn’t spend much time playing with any of the thousands of toys she has accumulated over the past six years.  She likes making crafts though.  This Doug & Melissa no-sew quilt was the perfect project for her. She received this Melissa & Doug No-Sew kit for Christmas. A similar one is available on Amazon. Now, this was not an afternoon project.  We worked on this blanket for several weeks a little at a time (and this one is much smaller than the one I linked to on Amazon).  The kit comes with instructions for making several different designs.  My daughter decided on the Northern Lights pattern. After I…
